Gender slection for family balancing:
How does Gender Selection work?
There is more than one way to select the gender of your baby. The first is through a process called sperm sorting. This process requires the collection of your partner’s sperm or donor sperm, which is washed in the lab and sorted with a centrifuge. The sperm that is more likely the gender you prefer is then used to fertilize the eggs a woman produces. This procedure must be done through intrauterine insemination or in vitro fertilization. The second option is Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis. This is a more complex choice and gives more accurate results. This process is only done through In Vitro Fertilization. When the eggs are extracted and fertilized they become embryos. The embryos can then be tested with a cell from each and determined to be male or female.
